 Community Tennis Program Grants

Final Cycle of 2017!
Application Deadline August 15th
 

Each year, the USTA Southwest Section Community Tennis Department awards grants to deserving programs and organizations. We are committed to growing tennis at all levels by offering grants to organizations and facilities interested in initiating or expanding tennis programs within our communities. 

The USTA Southwest Section welcomes all grant applications for any community-based tennis initiatives including; After School Tennis, Jr. Team Tennis, 10 and Under Tennis Programs, NJTL (National Jr. Tennis and Learning) chapters, CTA- Start Up (Community Tennis Association), High School Tennis, Tennis on Campus, Wheelchair Tennis, Adaptive Tennis, Corporate Tennis Programs, Adult/Senior Recreational Tennis Programs, Diversity Outreach Programs, and Innovative Tennis Programs.
 
We are excited to announce that our 2017 Program Grant application is now open to all USTA Southwest Organization Members. Please note that our grant process has changed. You can find the details below. 
There are two grants available: 

 

Innovative Program Grants
 
USTA Southwest Member Organizations can apply for up to $1,000 to start a new tennis program.

 

  • Grant deadlines will be January 15thApril 15th, and August 15th of each year (noon AZ time)
  • First come, first serve basis 
  • Any funds awarded will be sent on the 1st day of the following month
  • Organizations can apply for up to two cycles each calendar year
  • Ideal applicants include those who are starting a brand new program and are willing to commit to a detailed proposal for funding, including a complete program description and budget. 
  • Applicants are required to be a USTA Southwest Member Organization and register their program in the appropriate USTA portal (Play Day, Tournament, JTT, Wheelchair, Out of School Program etc.)
  • Applicants are also required to submit a letter of recommendation from their local USTA Tennis Service Representative and District President

Start Up or Expansion Grants

USTA Southwest Member Organizations can apply for matching funds up to $250 at any time during the year to quickly start a program or expand an existing program.

  • Matching funds will be required (either from a USTA District, the Organization itself, a third party, or fundraising efforts)
  • First come, first serve basis
  • Rolling application deadline -Organizations can apply at any time
  • Ideal applicants are those who quickly need equipment to start their program within the next 6 weeks or applicants who are trying to expand an existing program. 
  • Any funds awarded will be sent within 10 days of USTA Southwest approval. Applications will be reviewed within one week of submission. 
  • Organizations can apply up to two times a year. 
  • A letter of recommendation is not required for this type of grant
     

Please note: Neither of these program grants are for in school PE programs. If you are a school looking for equipment for PE tennis, please contact Jackie Marx at marx@southwest.usta.com for the 2017 USTA Southwest School Tennis Equipment Promotion. 

Both grants will use the same application.
