Angel Fire Texas Shootout a Success

cowgirls15The Texas Shootout Team Tennis Tournament was a huge success held July 25 & 26 at Angel Fire Resort in Angel Fire, New Mexico. It was a fundraiser for the Leukemia And Lymphoma Society. Brett Hall, Angel Fire Tennis Director and leukemia survivor ran the event along with his wife Becky. The cowgirls played on Saturday and the cowboys on Sunday with 48 players participating. In the four team round robin event each individual match was a 41 point tie-breaker. Players could purchase mulligan serves (an extra serve after a double fault) with all of the proceeds going to LLS.
 
In the cowgirl division the magnificent six (Sally Joy, Pam Casper, Robin Bennett, Olivia and Robin Elliot) from Angel Fire took first place.  The Taos Predators (Susan Simms, Marny Schantz, Yumiko McCormick, Jeo Oisen, Sue Burke, and Tristin Lee) finished second. 
 
cowboys15In the cowboy division Drew's Possee from Angel Fire and Albuquerque (Drew Maxwell, Dan Stephens, Randy Schultz, David Schoepfle, Jim Woodrufs, and Jay Oden came in first and The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly plus three (Kyle Edelbrock, Chris Batis, Quinn Hatch, Barry Caraco, Don and Doug Christian placed second.
 
A party was held Saturday night at Angel Fire Resort Lodge with a Mexican buffet dinner, silent auction, and raffle.  Gregg Manning, a former touring and teaching pro from Dallas was the keynote speaker. My he entire event raised $13,400!
