SinglesThis year’s ColemanVision Tennis Championships, a 75K USTA Pro Circuit Women’s  Event, was the best ever!  Featured to the right are the Singles Winner, Anna Tatishvili (USA), and Finalist, Irina Falconi (USA), with title sponsor, Dr. Stephen Coleman.

The doubles winners were Melanie Oudin and Jan Abaza, playing their first doubles event ever and defeating Nicole Melichar and Allie Will 6-2, 6-3 in the finals.  See the photo below.

Even the Qualifying rounds were well attended and marked with excellent and hotly contested matches---many going to three sets and some to three hours long.  For complete results, go to www.colemanvision.com.

Many players and officials named this event their favorite on the Pro Circuit because of the many dedicated, friendly and supportive volunteers that work tirelessly to make their stay in Albuquerque as special as possible.  The core team of volunteers is in the picture below.

Once again the tournament brought in 700 or more elementary and middle school students and up and 14_CV-DBLS_Winners-Finalists-SJ-Stephen_Coleman_(2)coming young players to be exposed to world class tennis, meet these players from all over the world, and learn of the opportunities available to them through tennis.  At the Kids’ Days, the young touring professionals spoke to the visiting elementary students in Arabic, Polish, Czech, French, and Spanish.

The tournament is conducted by the New Mexico Youth Foundation, a 501(c)(3) tax exempt organization, and all proceeds go to help support its mission of providing education and opportunity for New Mexico youth through tennis.
