American Upstart CiCi Bellis Given Wildcard to Play Qualifying at ColemanVision 
 

NvaidisovaALBUQUERQUE – The New Mexico Youth Tennis Foundation (NMYTF) confirms that Tanoan Country Club in Albuquerque will host the 17th annual Coleman Vision Tennis Championships, a USTA Pro Circuit Event, September 14-21.

The Main Draws this year will feature 32 singles players and 16 doubles. Anna Tatishvili, last year’s Singles Runner-Up is slated to return along with past players Sachia Vickery and Allie Kiick.

Former Top 10 and two-time French Opem semifinalist, Nicole Vaidisova (pictured, right) of the Czech Republic, who retired in 2010 at the age of 21, will make the Albuquerque stop her return to professional tennis.

A Wild Card Qualifying Slot is also being held for a Junior Fed Cup player this year, junior Americans trying to gain experience o the proffesional tour.

US Open darling CiCi Bellis (pictured, below) is one of those players who will be in the qualifying draw. The 15-year-old, along with other Team USA members of the Junior Fed Cup Team, are using the Albuquerque event for high altitude training as they prepare to play in Mexico City later in September.

Quality tennis will bring record attendance again this year. Qualifying Draw singles matches begin September 14 to Bellisdetermine the final players in the field. Main Draw play begins Tuesday, September 16.

AGAIN THIS YEAR: Live Web Streaming through the USTA.com website will give those at home the chance to see the event from their desktops or tablets. Beginning Tuesday, September 16, all main draw matches played on stadium court will be streamed live on the web at colemanvision.com and at usta.com. 

NEW THIS YEAR: Local USTA League Captains will be recognized on Thursday, September 18. Captains will be given free General Admission and recognized at 4:30pm before last featured match of the day. This is in conjunction with BRING A RACQUET DAY-bring a gently used racquet for free General Admission.

The tournament is once again inviting local schools to send close to 300 kids for two Elementary Kids’ Days on September 16 and 18. The students will meet world class players, try tennis, and be exposed to the education and professional opportunities available through tennis. 

The proceeds from this tournament benefits the New Mexico Youth Tennis Foundation, a 501 (c)(3) . The 2013 event raised $20,000 for youth tennis in New Mexico. The foundation’s mission is to provide education and opportunity for NM youth through tennis. The NMYTF funds after school programs, junior scholarships, adult education and grassroots efforts to create healthy communities in New Mexico.

ProCircuit132This circuit is a pathway to tour-level competition for aspiring tennis players and a frequent battleground for established professionals.

The USTA launched its Pro Circuit 33 years ago to provide players with the opportunity to gain professional ranking points and it has since grown to become the largest developmental tennis circuit in the world offering nearly $3 million in prize money. 

Past Coleman Vision Tennis Championships players have gone on to play Grand Slam events.
