Some of the best female tennis players in the world will return to their annual early fall stop in Albuquerque, as the USTA Pro Circuit continues swings through the Duke City for the 2013 ColemanVision Tennis Championships, held Sept. 15-22.

Sanchez387The ColemanVision Tennis Championships is the longest-running professional sports event held annually in the state of New Mexico and one of the few opportunities for fans of tennis in the Southwest to see professional tennis! This year's tournament will be the 16th held in succession, almost all of them held at the scenic Tanoan Country Club.

This year's CVTC, as per usual, will include several players ranked inside the Top 100 on the WTA Tour and a $75,000 total purse.

The tournament provides a unique opportunity for tennis fans and spectators to catch talented young up-and-comers, and see them in an up close and personal setting, many before they hit it big.

Defending champion at the CVTC is (pictured above) Maria Sanchez.

This year's tournament  entry list is still in the works. Check back to see which players will commit to this event.

The tournament is also a fixture in the community with several community-themed events taking place all week long, including clinics, pro-ams, power lunch and happy hours, the annual School Day for kids and the 6th Annual Rally for the Cure, a breast cancer fundraiser that really engage the Albuquerque tennis community. The last six years of the event, proceeds from the USTA Pro Circuit Event COLEMANVISION TENNIS CHAMPIONSHIPS have benefitted the New Mexico Youth Tennis Foundation and major inroads in community tennis have been made as a result.

The ColemanVision has helped expose the sport to more than 3,500 Albuquerque-area youth to the opportunities available through tennis and helped provide after-school tennis programs for an additional 3,500 more!

The
NEW MEXICO YOUTH TENNIS FOUNDATION is a 501(c)(3) tax exempt organization formed in 2007 by ColemanVision Tournament Director and former USTA Southwest president Sue Jollensten, whose mission is to promote youth tennis and support programs providing education and opportunity to all New Mexico Youth through tennis.

The tournament is named after Dr. Stephen Coleman, a world-renowned laser eye surgeon who is based in Albuquerque, and who is a passionate tennis player and lover of the sport. Come out and support the ColemanVision this fall!
