Super Tennis: Nearly 180 players from 20 teams will be looking to win the USTA Southwest Section Championships event, held Dec. 4-6 in Surprise, Ariz.

The USTA Southwest's top 60-and-over teams will make their way to the Surprise Tennis & Racquet Complex, Dec. 4-6 for the fourth and final league event of the 2009 calendar year, the Super Senior League Section Championships.

Approximately 180 male and female senior players comprising 20 teams from Phoenix, Tucson, Albuquerque, El Paso and various other areas from across the USTA Southwest have qualified for this league championship event in the 6.0, 7.0, 8.0 and 9.0 divisions. The tournament is open to players 60 years or older only.

The format for the championship is round robin, with all team matches being played as a best two out of three doubles lines.

The event playing schedule has not yet been released, but will be soon, so please check back to this page for that information. Please remember times of matches are subject to change until the final schedule is handed out at the captain's meeting on Thursday, Dec. 3 at the Surprise Tennis & Racquet Complex.


Player Registration:
All players MUST individually register online for the USTA Southwest Super Senior Section Championships by Nov. 20.

Team Check-In & Captain's Meeting
Attention team captains: Check in for the event will be held at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 3 at the playing site, the Surprise Tennis & Racquet Complex (14469 W. Paradise Lane, Surprise, AZ 85374 - tele. # 623-222-2400).

A mandatory captain's meeting will follow, beginning at 5:30 p.m.

Hotel Information
The Holiday Inn Express-Surprise (16540 N. Bullard Ave., Surprise, AZ 85374) has blocked off rooms for tournament players and is offering the participants a room rate of $89 per night plus tax and fees per each single/double room. The facility is about a 1/3 of a mile from the Surprise Tennis & Racquet Complex.

National Championships
Teams that win USTA Southwest Super Senior Section Championships will be qualify for the USTA Super Senior League National Championships, held April 23-25, 2010 (for 6.0 and 8.0 NTRP divisions) and April 30-May 2, 2010 (for 7.0 and 9.0 NTRP divisions). That event will take place at the Surprise Tennis & Racquet Complex as well!
